What is sprinkler blowout season?

Irrigation Blowout Season

Sprinkler blowout season, also known as irrigation blowout season, is the time when homeowners and businesses get their irrigation systems, like sprinklers or drip systems, ready for winter. This involves clearing all the water from the pipes to prevent freezing. Typically done in late fall before the first frost, this step is crucial because water left in the pipes can freeze, expand, and cause them to crack or burst.

Using compressed air to blow out the remaining water is why it's called a blowout. It's an essential maintenance task in colder regions to avoid expensive repairs when spring arrives.
